New Blogging Tool
After using TypePad for a couple months to start my personal blogging initiative, I have decided to move the blog to the Atalasoft site. After helping to setup and run Community Server from Telligent Software for the Western Mass .NET Users Group that I help lead, I decided that community server would be a great tool for our company. A couple weeks ago we moved our forums over to this tool, and started a company blog. After a few weeks of not seeing my blog posts showing up in the company blogs aggregation, I figured it was time to move my blog over here too. So here I am!
I feel like we've really jumped on the bandwagon here as I see more and more companies blogging, especially software companies. In our case, it's really an effort to become more transparent, and gain customer confidence in doing so. After all, our company is highly customer focused, growing, and profitable. Why hide that? Our community forums have been public since day one. There our customers can read praises, complaints, tips, and sometimes even mentions of competitors. Never have we had to moderate a post aside from a few spams.
In one of my earlier articles, I mentioned that I was a jack of all trades, master of none. A little over a year ago I hired a software engineer by the name of Steve Hawley to take over my position of Chief Architect so I can be left to more "presidential" duties. I'm happy to say that Steve is a master programmer, and his new blog is really interesting for you hard code programmers out there. I also know that our lead developer on our AJAX thin client image viewer control, David Cilley, will be starting a blog soon. His articles should be very insightful on technologies such as AJAX, ASP.NET, and web based imaging.
Speaking of AJAX, this Monday, Dave and I will be attending the Real-World AJAX Seminar in New York City. It should be interesting, and I'll try to fill you in on some of what we've learned.
